cocomotion's giveaway prizes

I collected the prizes from Kas's breast cancer awareness giveaway on the same day as my RBLs. It was so nice to receive so many goodies at the same time, even more so cos it was the day after my birthday.

There were 4 sets of prizes for this giveaway and I had won The Body Shop Love Etc body lotion + stage nail polish in Vivacious set. Couldn't have asked for more! Kas sneaked in some samples for me: EA Ceramide Plump Perfect firming facial mask, EA Prevage anti-aging treatment and night cream, Kiehl's Cryste Marine firming and rejuvenating treatment cream, Guerlain Success Future Day Care Wrinkle Minimizer.

Kas!!!! If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were trying to send me a message!..Just look at all the keywords here: firming, anti-aging, rejuvenating..I know I just turned a year older..but but..Ok fine, you're right. I am getting old. 'Nuff said.

And thank you for unknowingly completing my TBS Love Etc set. I have the shower gel and EDP at home and didn't buy the body lotion previously cos I knew I'd take forever to finish.

And I am liking this colour! Really fun and girly, and I think it lives up to its name: Vivacious.

THANK YOU for putting this all together KAS. <3

Olive Green nails from Stage, OPI, China Glaze and MAC

Random entry and swatches of some olive shades that I have in my stash.

Stage Extreme was bought during one of those sales they were having a few months back. This shade was mentioned previously on somebody's blog I think, I can't remember. So I made a mental note to go check it out and indeed it stood out amongst the shades of red, pink and purple.

OPI At Your Quebec & Call from the Canada collection is, I believe, a discontinued shade. I managed to snag this one off someone on a beauty community. About a fifth had already been used at the point of purchase but I jumped on the chance as I had been looking for it for a while.

China Glaze Wagon Trail from the Fall 2008 Rodeo Diva collection. Highly raved on nail polish blogs like Scrangie and AllLacqueredUp.

MAC Dry Martini from Fall 2009 Jin Soon Choi for MAC. This was bought from the MAC private sale earlier this year. It has a creme finish while the above-mentioned have a shimmery finish. The make-up blogette recently showed a swatch of it too.

Stage Extreme had a very good application. You could get away with one coat if applied evenly. I applied two coats for more intensity. It is slightly lighter in shade compared to China Glaze Wagon Trail and has more golden shimmer.

OPI At Your Quebec & Call is pretty sheer application-wise and I had to put on three coats to achieve this opacity. Even then, it looks like something's missing. I found a tip on this blog that I might try next time. The trick is to apply a coat of black polish first before layering a sheer polish. It brings out the colour better. Check out the link, the swatches she did of this polish are awesome and really drool-worthy. You'll be able to see the difference with and without a black base.

China Glaze Wagon Trail is the darkest olive shade here, leaning on black in certain lighting. Scrangie describes it as a black with gold shimmer. Dark olive green or black with gold, however you wanna describe this one, it is gorgeous nonetheless.

MAC Dry Martini is described as a khaki olive green. It photographed brown on my nail swatch, but showed up as olive in the first pic above.

Do you/ Have you/ Would you wear olive green? Which one is your fav shade? Any other shade recommendations?

Hope you enjoyed reading this entry!

stage haul

Guilty! Yes I'm another one who went to the stage $10 sale. I could have let it slip by, just like the Sephora sale (well I really didn't have the time and was too lazy and tired on Saturday to rush to Suntec City to see what was left - scared of being disappointed in case there was nothing much left that would interest me), but stage was on my way back home so to speak (meaning not out of the way like Suntec City), so I made my way to the outlet in ION straight after gym.

So what did I get?

- Eye liner in Pewter Performance (big box for a small pencil)

- Picture Perfect Liquid Camouflage in Diva Doll (I wanted the cream concealer first, but my shade "Buff" was OOS)

- Eye shadow mono in 11 Havana, 12 Andalucia, 13 Casablanca.

And then it so happened that on Sunday, I went to Suntec (that's ironic cos the Sephora sale was well over), and I went by the stage outlet there to see if they had the cream concealer and they did! So I grabbed it. Have yet to try using the products, except for one eyeshadow that i dabbed on on Sunday itself. I gotta admit, for someone who has a lot of makeup at home, I still suck at using it. Haha.
