Illamasqua Devotee and Color Club Revvvolution

Another old mani using Illamasqua Devotee (candy pink with a rubber finish) and Color Club Revvvolution (black holo) on the tips and accent.

Such a nice shade of pink! Love this one! And Revvvolution, such an oldie but goodie holo.

Illamasqua Speckle

Illamasqua has released five speckled nail polishes in their newest collection Imperfection.

This is Illamasqua Speckle which has black glitter in a lilac base. I applied a thin first coat, and a much thicker second coat. I expected it to be thick from the get-go, but instead it applied a bit sheer on the first coat. The opacity builds up easily on the second coat though.

The glitter was not a problem. There's just tons of it.

So how does this compare to the DIY version that I did here? I think that the same look can be achieved using the DIY way. You just have to coat more glitter with polish to achieve that "drowned glitter" look. Or have a polish that is sheer enough to do some sandwiching, but that's opaque at the same time so that it doean't have too much of a jelly look. Ok I might be rambling. Hope you enjoyed the swatch!

P.S Happy Easter everyone! I wanted to try out some bunny nail art, but no time.

Illamasqua Faux Pas

Illamasqua Faux Pas is a blue violet shade of purple with a rubber finish. It is very creamy and pigmented and one coat is almost good enough to cover the whole nail. I wore it with and without topcoat below.

On my index and middle finger is the rubber finish. It looks matte but with a satin sheen to it.
On my ring finger and pinky, I added a coat of Seche Vite for a glossy finish.

Glossy looks much better in my opinion. The rubber finish tends to look a bit dull after a while.

Illamasqua Loella

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and after reading this post on thesubtleshimmer, I wanted to show my support by painting my nails pink on every Monday in the month of October.

Today I have Illamasqua Loella on my nails. It is a bright candy pink with a purple shimmer which looks beautiful from the bottle but does not translate well on the nails. This took 3 coats as it was still a bit streaky on the second coat.

For more information about breast cancer, please head to http://www.bcf.org.sg. Remember that early detection can save your life.

Illamasqua Neutral Palette and Powder Eyeshadow in Bronx

These are a couple of goodies (the others being nail polishes that were on sale at the time) that I ordered online from Illamasqua in early April, but which I received only recently due to, what I think is, some shipping error. It took me about 2 months before I noticed that something had probably gone wrong with my order since it hadn't been delivered. Besides, another order which I had made around the same time had already reached me a month before that. So I emailed customer service and after a very long and frustrating email exchange (where they kept referring me to some other tracking references that had arrived in Australia and some other unknown place), they finally decided to resend me another package at my request. I wouldn't have had it any other way, it was that or a full refund.

So anyway...here is what was inside the black box (besides the nail polishes).

The Neutral Palette from the Naked Strangers Collection

"Create sculpted highlights and stark contours anywhere on your face and body with these four pivotal Powder Eye Shadows. From our new antique gold shade, Vintage - exclusive to this palette - and matt shades Stealth (creamy buttermilk) and Wolf (rich chocolate brown), to the smoky charcoal depths of new shade Obsidian (rich black), express your inner light and darkness with riotous glamour."

Powder Eyeshadow in Bronx - described as a pale bronze gold (it was on sale too for half the price!)

All of them are very pigmented, soft and smooth, finely milled and they blend well. They might look kinda boring and all, but I like the simplicity of it. I am a fan of neutrals, so I am very pleased with all the colours.

MAC Powder Blush in Modern Mandarin (MAC Tres Cheek collection)

MAC Tres Cheek is a collection of six powder blushers and the one I bought is called Modern Mandarin (described as a red-orange with a satin finish). It has good pigmentation as compared to some of the others I swatched which didn't show up too well on my skin. I

These days I don't go crazy over blushes as I used to, which is a good thing really.

Some blushes in the same colour family that I found in my stash!

Illamasqua blush swatches (Thrust, Nymph, Panic), Illamasqua bronzer (Writhe), Illamasqua nail polish (Force, Radium, Stagnate)

All the goodies here were bought during sales, 20% or 25% off at different times and I wanted to receive everything before doing a collective haul entry.

So what do we have?

Everything unboxed:

Bronzer in Writhe (golden tan)

"Shape, define, tempt and tease. Illamasqua Bronzer contains crushed pearl powder, for a smooth, even finish that leaves skin begging to be caressed. Apply to face and body for a beautiful bronzed glow that will last until dawn."

This was on sale at 30% off in the Summer Shop. Very very fine powder and super glowy.

Another 3 blushes for my collection!

Thrust - Deep Magenta Pink

Nymph - Warm Candy Pink

Panic - Deep Cherry Red

The first pic is closer to how it looks like in real. The second pic brings out the "cherry" tone of the colour.

Liquid Metal in Enrapture (Molten Bronze), also 30% in the Summer Shop

Swatches:

This is just one swipe of Panic! It's so bloody intense and pigmented.

And a little comparison between Illamasqua Panic and nars Exhibit A, both reddish matte blushes.

They don't look the same at all. Panic has more pink in it and Exhibit A has more orange, even though the latter is officially described as a Brilliant Red.

Swatches:

Again, only one swipe of Panic and like 3 swipes of Exhibit A.

Toxic duo box. Love the illustrations.

Woohoo! My first Illamasqua nail polishes!! Exciting for me cos I've always wanted to try them out but always found them a tad bit expensive (U.P: £13.50 each). I finally decided to take the plunge and go for the Toxic Duo in Radium & Stagnate during a 20% sale and it came down to £16.80 after discount. Force was on sale at 30% in the Summer Shop.

Swatches:

Force - Deep Electric Blue

Looks darker in real, almost a blurple. Couldn't pick up the colour with my camera. This could be a one coater if you like to apply your polish thick. If you apply a second coat, be careful of uneven layers because it has a tendency to settle fast as the formula is quite thick.

Radium - Acidic lime, shimmer finish

Applied a bit streaky, but a second or third coat will cover the streaks and bald spots. I have nothing like this in my collection and I think it will attract a lot of attention if I wear this to work because it is so bright.

Stagnate - Grey Mauve

Lovely application, had no problem at all and once again, could be a one coater if you apply thickly, but two coats will bring out the intensity and depth of the colour.

Hope you liked the swatches! :)

mini Illamasqua haul from ASOS and swatches

I bought some Illamasqua stuff on ASOS recently. The main reason was because they were on discount (~30% off or more) and it was just too tempting, especially with free shipping thrown in. It was also a good chance to get items that I wouldn't normally buy, like the liquid metal. So far, I've only ordered clothes from ASOS and these come in big plastic bag types of packaging like below.

I wasn't sure how they'd package makeup since it was my first time getting makeup from ASOS. I was scared the eye shadow would reach me in pieces. And so, in that same order, I bought a dress, thinking that if everything was shipped together, at least, the dress would help to protect the makeup and act as cushioning against shocks. Well in the end, this is what I received. A small box with air packs (what are these called?) to fill up the empty space, which is also how Benefit packages their stuff sometimes. The dress, which I received a few days later, was mailed separately.

So what's in the box?

Liquid metal in Superior (metallic sapphire)

UP £17.50 - on sale £11.03

Powder Eye Shadow in Preen (rich royal purple)

UP £15.50 - on sale £7.88

Precision Ink in Alchemy (antique gold)

UP £17.00 - on sale £10.35

Sheer Lipgloss in Electrify (iridescent baby pink)

UP £13 - on sale £9.10

haul: more Illamasqua blushes and swatches (Chased, Excite, Tremble, Create), Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss (Mistress, Petulant)

I've got some more Illamasqua blush swatches for you. The boxed items below are from a spree organized by Jo and Hyd (click here to request for sprees and join the mailing list). The rest were bought from Farah's blogsale a while back. <3

L-R clockwise: Matt Primer, blush in Chased, Excite, Create, Tremble

Chased - Bright Rose Pink

Excite - Vivid Apricot

Tremble - Soft Lilac Pink

Create - Warm Peach Honey

Swatches on my inner arm:

Matte Primer. Milky consistency, spreads easily, smells sweet. Kept the oilies at bay for a few hours before I had to blot.

My first intense lipglosses! Bright, bold and glossy! Comes in a squeezy plastic tube. I find it a bit hard to apply. What's the best way? Straight from the tube or with a brush or with my finger?

haul: more Illamasqua blushes and swatches (Beg, Sin, Expose, Kiss, Rumour, Unrequited)

I've been trying all morning to get the colour right on these pics, but hmm, they look like they photographed the same (especially sin and kiss which are both plum colours). Anyway, hope you enjoy the swatches.

I bought Beg and Sin off sg_beauty, so they're second-hand. Upon examining them, Beg was only slightly used and Sin looked like new. There were no marks or signs of use on its surface. Such a good deal!

  • Beg - Dusky rose pink
  • Sin - Deep violet plum

The next four were bought online with the help of Farah (http://chocfull.onsugar.com/) during a recent sale. Expose, Kiss and Unrequited were going at 25% off, and Rumour was 50% off. I love SALES!

  • Expose - Soft terracotta
  • Kiss - Deep rose plum

  • Rumour - Pale pinky beige
  • Unrequited - Soft baby pink

Swatches on inner arm:

And just for fun, I pulled out some of my more orangy colours for comparison swatches.
