MAC Electric Cool haul (Superwatt and Electroplate eyeshadow)

So I wasn't intending on getting anything. Granted I had taken at a look at the swatches on Temptalia, and noted down two colours I kinda liked, but I really didn't think I'd be getting anything. I was at Shaw last Saturday to watch The Dark Knight Rises at Lido IMAX (awesome show btw!), and there I was killing time walking around Isetan when I saw the display for the collection. Out of curiosity, I went to take a look and opened one to swatch.

The texture felt so interesting, kinda marshmallow-y, soft and mousse-y. The colour pay-off was very good, very shimmery, very blendable. So after a short battle in my head as to buy or not to buy, I ended up walking away with the same two colours I had noted down. They are Superwatt, a light shimmering taupe, and Electroplate, a cool gunmetal grey. I did not even dare swatch ALL the colours lest I be tempted. These are very safe neutral colours that I would wear all the time, so yes, very safe. :)

They come in a screw-top container.

Swatches:

These are the same swatches when I tried rubbing them off. It's mostly the shimmer that goes away.

I have worn both colours to work this week. I wear them without primer (most days, I'm eye primer-less!) and they last me the whole day. There is no fading, only some slight creasing, which I think is partly due to my oily lids. Overall, I think it's not a bad product, definitely worth a look if you want to try a different kind of texture. I do not have any Chanel Illusion d'Ombre or MAC Big Bounce eyeshadows to compare this with, and for the record, they're totally different from GA ETK and l'Oreal Infaillible.

Got this through Michelle's spree recently. And this is a swatch I put up on Instagram this morning in case you've missed it.

Dry and wet swatch respectively

Isn't the colour just gorgeous?

L'Oreal Infaillible Flashback Silver, Eyes To Kill Pulp Fiction, Eyes To Kill Obsidian Grey comparison

Just a very quick comparison post between some grey eyeshadows I pulled out of my stash.

Similar but not the same: Flahsback silver has a purple/lilac sheen, Pulp Fiction has a reddish tinge (depending on how much of the red bits you get on your brush), while Obsidian Grey leans a bit blue, making it a greyer grey than the rest.

haul: Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Eyeshadow #21 Obsidian Grey, Nars Lhasa Single Eyeshadow

This is my very small restrained haul from Barneys.com which had free international shipping recently. Thanks to the makeup-blogette for the heads up on this on Instagram! I was sort of on a budget and ended up with only two items: Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill 21 Obsidian Grey and Nars single eyeshadow in Lhasa. I wanted to get the ETK in Obsidian Black as well, but by the time I had made my final decision on what to buy, it was OOS. Too bad for me, but good for my wallet. I also had a YSL Glossy Stain in Corail Fauve in my basket, but didn't order it in the end. Maybe next time.

Have not used the ETK yet, but I am really really loving Lhasa. It is a very pretty taupey shade, great to use as a wash of colour all over the lid on any occasion. This is my first nars eyeshadow single and I was amused by how small it was. I have a few duos which are the same size as the blush, and I found this one so small and cute.

haul: Inglot Rainbow Eyeshadow in 103R, 113R, 116R, 117R, 120R

I went for a short trip to KL in early April and my first stop was Sunway Lagoon which was on the way just before entering KL. One of the reasons for going there: to have a peek at the Inglot store.

All the eyeshadows that I have were bought from sprees and CPs (see my Inglot eyeshadows here: http://lillgoddess.onsugar.com/My-Inglot-palette-eyeshadow-swatches-20366998) and I had never been in an Inglot store in person.

It looked a bit intimidating from the outside. There were no customers and the sales people were all getting made up at the counter. I didn't have a list of things I wanted to buy and so, going in didn't seem very appealing. You know that feeling you get when you're in an empty store and you start touching things and the sales people have their eyes on you and watch your every move. I hate that.

Well, I did go in and came out empty-handed the first time round. I went again after lunch, during which I had access to wifi and could do some research on what I wanted to buy. My second trip to the store was more fruitful and I came out with a few items, namely, rainbow eyeshadows, duraline and a nail polish.

I'm gonna show you the rainbow eyeshadows that I bought. The palette started as a 3-pan and ended up being 5-pan cos I couldn't decide on the shades I wanted.

Sliding magnetic cover of the palette

I believe the order of the shades is: 116R, 113R, 107R, 117R, 120R. They are all neutrals, the coloured ones didn't appeal to me as I wouldn't use them.

MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadows haul (Modern Pewter, Sweet Heat, Havana)

Modern Pewter: dirty olive gold

Sweet Heat: bright peach champagne

Havana: dirty copper brown

These were so creamy to the touch that I thought that they were cream eyeshadows. This is "a new liquid-powder hybrid formula with prismatic reflections that instantly sculpts, highlights and models the face to the desired effect – extra dimension."

All the colours swatched beautifully. I was thinking of not getting anything, but you can see what I came home with in the end.

I did not get any of the Extra Dimension MSFs. They swatched really shimmery and pigmented, very pretty, but I thought that I wouldn't have much use for them.

MAC Metal-X Cream Eyeshadows haul (Gold Carbon and Palladium)

I just realized that I have these from my HK trip in January.

Gold Carbon: Metallic Taupe

Palladium: Metallic Ash

The BA taught me to layer the two shades together to create another shade.

I think that these cream eyeshadows didn't get good reviews because they crease easily and don't last long. They are pretty nonetheless.

mini nars haul from Bangkok (Kalahari duo & Madison Avenue eyeliner)

I went to Bangkok for a very short break last week. I left on Thursday and came back on Saturday. The main order of business was to attend my cousin's wedding and that took the whole of Friday. My schedule was really cramped. I only had some time to walk around on my first day and last day there. I made a quick trip to Central World, a really big mall much like ION/Vivocity, which houses Isetan and Zen departmental stores. (Central World was previously known as World Trade Center but was set on fire in 2010 during the anti-government riots that happened in Thailand).

I CP-ed some Suqqu from Isetan but didn't get anything for myself there. Zen dept store had just re-opened and it was nice to see beauty counters like MUFE, Smashbox, The Balm, nars amongst the usual fare of Chanel, Dior, Biotherm, Shu etc that we have in Singapore. However, time was precious and I didn't have time to browse much since I was in a hurry. With only about a couple of hours to spare before leaving for the airport, I also wanted to check out Platinum Fashion Mall which is across the road from Central World. I have heard quite a bit about Platinum and it would have been a crime not to take a look at the floors of clothes, shoes, bags that it has. Someone told me that it's like a blogshop heaven and indeed it almost is. Buy more pieces and get wholesale prices too. I ended up buying a dress, a shirt and 2 clutches.

Back to the point of this post. Where did I buy my nars from? Well, it was at the airport. I spotted a nars counter from afar and my feet immediately brought me there. Not that I had anything in mind to buy, but i just wanted to check out what they had. And this is what I left with: an eyeshadow duo in Kalahari and a Larger Than Life long-wear eyeliner in Madison Avenue.

I don't know why the 2 colours are looking so similar in the picture. The one on the right is definitely a darker shade than the one on the left.

Kalahari: Gold Confection/Sugared Cocoa. Super lovely neutral duo that instantly caught my eye on the display. I swatched it and I was like, I need to have this.

Swatches of Kalahari and Madison Ave:

Madison Avenue is a slate grey shade.

Comparison swatch of Nars Madison Avenue next to MAC Engraved and MAC Grey Utility.

The lady showed me the built-in sharpener that comes with the Larger Than Life pencil. Pretty nifty thing there.

Belated Birthday celebration with friends

Yesterday night was a good night, filled with great company, food and makeup goodies. A big thank you to Sophia, Kim, Amy, Jerlaine and Kas for the presents and the awesome cake, and also to Gwen who came to meet us too.

Dinner was at Everything with Fries (EwF) at Orchard Central. We each had a Har Jeong Kai burger meal with either sour cream and onion fries and garlic fries. The serving is pretty generous for a $9.90 meal and I personally couldn't finish this.

(Most pics below taken with my iPhone3GS)

The birthday cake! The girls had lighted a candle and were waiting to surprise me with this yummy looking chocolate cake on the table while I was away in the washroom. This cake is from Awfully Chocolate which, as it turns out, are the same people behind EwF.

The presents! Urban Decay Mariposa palette and fresh Brown Sugar edp. I am so happy with my gifts. Been lemming for both and now I can strike them off my wishlist.

That was not all. More goodies were exchanged and passed around. Everytime we meet it's like Christmas.

Benefit velvet eyeshadows from Jerlaine's mini spree. I chose a couple of neutral shades in Fawn Over Me and Tickled Mink.

Beauty.com F&F 20% sale spree items from Gwen. I got a large Z-palette after I filled my first one with Inglot eyeshadow pans, and also bought the Cargo Safari collection that Kim recommended to me. It comes with a full-sized blush in Coral Beach, an eyeshadow duo in gold and olive green shades, an eye pencil in khaki, a lip gloss in Serengeti and a mascara. Not bad for USD34 when a blush by itself costs USD28. Comes in a cute little pouch.

My first Cargo blush:

After dinner, we trooped to Lush which had just opened at Wisma Atria. It's just like a candy store. Everything looks so yummy and smells good. I didn't buy anything there and then, but I'm sure I'll be back to check out the store soon.

Last stop for the day was Sephora and I walked out with 2 tokidoki palettes.

My Inglot palette (and eyeshadow swatches)

I am finally ready to show you all the Inglot eyeshadows that I have so far. The bulk of this collection was bought through Michelle's spree earlier this year and another batch was CP-ed by Kim when she went to KL. I didn't buy the Inglot Freedom System palette cos I wanted to put all of them in a Z palette that I had. As you can see, they all fit pretty nicely in this large Z palette. You can line 6 pans in a row and fill up to 3 rows with some extra space below. I thought I could use that space to put a brush there. I tried it and the palette wouldn't close properly. Maybe if I have a flatter brush or something. Anyway, it doesn't matter, I don't mind the empty space.

As you can see, I didn't organize them by colour but rather by numbers. The inglot eyeshadow colours do not have real names and are instead called by a number a letter. The latter represents the finish of the eyeshadow. e.g P = Pearl, DS = Double Sparkle, M = Matte. I mostly have Pearl finishes and bought a AMC Shine and a Double Sparkle to try.

Swatches are on bare skin without any base. They are really super pigmented. These are just one swipe swatches.

They really do not disappoint. I would really love to have more (never enough right?), but I'm pretty satisfied with what I have now.
