Haul: Urban Decay 15-Year Anniversary goodies

These are some Urban Decay 15-Year Anniversary goodies that I hauled earlier this year. They are still BNIB up til now. Oops! Yeah, I haven't had the heart or the time to start using them, so I have no swatches to show you. Nothing that google can't help you with though. :)

Product Highlight: Clarins Instant Liner in Black

The last product that I will mention from the Clarins Colour Definition Make-Up Collection is the Instant Liner in black. I have to confess that I do not have much experience with liquid liners as I always thought they were hard to use. I did not trust my shaky unexperienced hands with something that could easily slip and poke my eye. I am usually more comfortable with a pencil liner or even a gel liner. But now that I've tried this product, I must say that lining the eyes with liquid liner is not as hard as I thought. It might take some practice but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty fast to create a fine line or a thick line as you desire above your lashline.

The high-precision foam applicator

Strokes can be drawn thick or thin and it dries fairly quickly. The first swatch shows the ink when wet and the subsequent swatches shows the black shade when it's dry. It does not smudge or flake once dry.

It is not waterproof and easily dissolves with water, making removal a breeze.

All cleaned up.

The Instant Liner retails for $35, available at all Clarins counters from Aug 1 2011.

DISCLAIMER: All products in this entry were sent to me by Clarins for consideration. I wasn't paid to do this and I'm not affiliated to Clarins in any way. Opinions expressed here are my own

mini Illamasqua haul from ASOS and swatches

I bought some Illamasqua stuff on ASOS recently. The main reason was because they were on discount (~30% off or more) and it was just too tempting, especially with free shipping thrown in. It was also a good chance to get items that I wouldn't normally buy, like the liquid metal. So far, I've only ordered clothes from ASOS and these come in big plastic bag types of packaging like below.

I wasn't sure how they'd package makeup since it was my first time getting makeup from ASOS. I was scared the eye shadow would reach me in pieces. And so, in that same order, I bought a dress, thinking that if everything was shipped together, at least, the dress would help to protect the makeup and act as cushioning against shocks. Well in the end, this is what I received. A small box with air packs (what are these called?) to fill up the empty space, which is also how Benefit packages their stuff sometimes. The dress, which I received a few days later, was mailed separately.

So what's in the box?

Liquid metal in Superior (metallic sapphire)

UP £17.50 - on sale £11.03

Powder Eye Shadow in Preen (rich royal purple)

UP £15.50 - on sale £7.88

Precision Ink in Alchemy (antique gold)

UP £17.00 - on sale £10.35

Sheer Lipgloss in Electrify (iridescent baby pink)

UP £13 - on sale £9.10

haul: Chanel Summer 2011 collection: Les Fleurs d'Ete de Chanel

So..it looks like I caved and bought myself my first Chanel products from the summer 2011 collection called Les Fleurs D'Ete de Chanel (which translates to the Flowers of Summer). To be honest, I don't know much about Chanel makeup, I don't follow their collections, like I do for, say MAC. I hadn't even considered checking it out and had absolutely no intention whatsoever of buying anything. So what happened? Let's just say that if it wasn't a case of love at first sight, it was indeed a case of love at first swatch.

Why do I say that it wasn't love at first sight? Well usually, my lemming for a certain product begins with the promo images or product pictures and swatches, etc. When Sophia from the make-up blogette posted pictures of the bronzing powders, I wasn't left drooling at them at all. I was like, well they're pretty but nah, not for me, not gonna buy them. So yes, what happened?? Well, it wasn't my fault that Isetan was showcasing the collection on the day that I went there in my bid to spend my $10 voucher before it expired. So, I got curious since I'd heard so much about the collection, and approached the display, all along thinking that there was no way I would be getting anything. The first thing I swatched was the eyeliner and omg, I loved it on the spot. The colour was lovely, and when I tried to swipe it off, it wouldn't budge! I was like, is there something I'm missing by not checking out this collection?

I then went to the real counter where the BA swatched the bronzing powder on me, and it was another revelation there and then that I probably need this in my collection. It was oh so pretty. She showed me how I could apply the colours individually (blush, bronzer, highlight, contour). When blended together, the colour is pretty sheer and gives an overall glowy look to the skin. I decided to buy the Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzing Powder in Bronze Corail (Limited Edition) as well as the Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Liner in Rose Platine (also LE).

I also received a sample of Vitalumiere Aqua foundation and Vitalumiere Eclat Compact Powder to try out. I hope it doesn't create new lemmings!

Sorry for the lame swatch. It was just one swipe of the pencil.

MAC Cham Pale, Stylishly Yours & Mickey Contractor hauls

Very belated haul entry on some recent MAC collections, namely Cham Pale, Stylishly Yours and Mickey Contractor.

As you can see, my hauls were rather modest, seeing that I'm trying to buy less.

From the Cham Pale collection, I got the eye kohl in I Get No Kick (a metallic champagne colour), the nail lacquer in Soiree and the special reserve highlight powder in Rose Ole.

From the Stylishly Yours and Mickey Contractor collections, both of which I thought I'd skip, I have a modest two item haul. Both are really lovely, and I'm happy to have them!

Colours in the pictures are a bit pale and washed out cos the natural light was streaming in the room, but the swatches are pretty close to the real thing.

MAC Art Supplies haul

This is my tiny MAC Art Supplies haul.

Greasepaint stick in Dirty and Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner in Black Line, Designer Purple and Undercurrent.

I decided to pass on the blue shades of pearlglides (Petrol Blue and Industrial) and Almost Noir, which kinda reminded me of Urban Decay's 1999 24/7 glide-on pencil when I first swatched it. (I'm not saying it's a dupe in any way, I can't even compare them now since I don't have Almost Noir, just that it looks from the same shade family). I think I would have gotten all the shades if I wasn't practising some sort of self-restraint. lol.

LA Girls nail polish haul @ John Little

So...I dropped by JL today cos some of you evil girls got me lemming after the LA Girl matte nail polish (read the make-up blogette's entry and adorebeauty's entry). I grabbed 9 of the 16 (?) shades available. I believe I'm missing raspberry, rose, turquoise, red, black, white and indigo.

Here are the colours I got (L-R):

Alpine Green, Plum, Sky Blue, Baby Pink, Blue Twilight, Lilac, Orange, Coral and Pink.

Initially, I wanted to buy all the shades (yes they're on sale now at JL. U.P SGD 9, now it's at 15% off + extra 20% off for members). The sales lady was very helpful though in helping me decide which colours to get. She was fun to talk to, telling me how OPI is so overpriced and all that, and that LA Girl's quality is as good and caters for young people like me who are in their early 20s and like bright colours (I had to snigger there cos well I'm no longer in my twenties). Haha! And because I was buying so many, she slipped in a lip balm as free gift, as well as 6 samples of day moisturiser and night cream from this brand called babaria that she also represents. This might seem weird, but the day moisturiser contains SNAIL EXTRACT!!! There's even the illustration of a snail on the pack.. you know those slimy things that you see crawling outside after it has rained. Lol. Intriguing no doubt. And it costs like SGD99 per tub. Looks exactly like this:

Anyway, I'm digressing from my JL haul today. Other items you see in the pic are LA Girl marine base coat (prevents nails from staining) and 2 Bourjois contour clubbing waterproof pencils in Blue Remix and Bleu Neon. Swatches here with and without flash respectively.

Blue Remix looks almost green in the first pic (with flash) and looks much blue-er in the second (without flash). These two are joining the other two clubbing waterproof pencils that I already own, which are in Golden Grey Session (like a golden pale green with grey undertones?) and Green insomniak (a really gorgeous green shade). And yes, they are pretty much waterproof. They don't budge once set and they're really really smooooooth on application. Loves! Was also tempted to get a purple one..ah well, next time maybe.

And yesterday, these 2 mini OPIs (Little Red Wagon and Don't Toy With Me) came in the mail. I had gotten them over the weekend from someone selling them away. These are 3.75 ml only compared to the 15ml full-size bottles. They're cute, I'm just wondering how many applications these can last.

Next entries will probably of my Benefit hauls. I received one this week and I've got one more coming up! Yes!
