mini nars haul from Bangkok (Kalahari duo & Madison Avenue eyeliner)

I went to Bangkok for a very short break last week. I left on Thursday and came back on Saturday. The main order of business was to attend my cousin's wedding and that took the whole of Friday. My schedule was really cramped. I only had some time to walk around on my first day and last day there. I made a quick trip to Central World, a really big mall much like ION/Vivocity, which houses Isetan and Zen departmental stores. (Central World was previously known as World Trade Center but was set on fire in 2010 during the anti-government riots that happened in Thailand).

I CP-ed some Suqqu from Isetan but didn't get anything for myself there. Zen dept store had just re-opened and it was nice to see beauty counters like MUFE, Smashbox, The Balm, nars amongst the usual fare of Chanel, Dior, Biotherm, Shu etc that we have in Singapore. However, time was precious and I didn't have time to browse much since I was in a hurry. With only about a couple of hours to spare before leaving for the airport, I also wanted to check out Platinum Fashion Mall which is across the road from Central World. I have heard quite a bit about Platinum and it would have been a crime not to take a look at the floors of clothes, shoes, bags that it has. Someone told me that it's like a blogshop heaven and indeed it almost is. Buy more pieces and get wholesale prices too. I ended up buying a dress, a shirt and 2 clutches.

Back to the point of this post. Where did I buy my nars from? Well, it was at the airport. I spotted a nars counter from afar and my feet immediately brought me there. Not that I had anything in mind to buy, but i just wanted to check out what they had. And this is what I left with: an eyeshadow duo in Kalahari and a Larger Than Life long-wear eyeliner in Madison Avenue.

I don't know why the 2 colours are looking so similar in the picture. The one on the right is definitely a darker shade than the one on the left.

Kalahari: Gold Confection/Sugared Cocoa. Super lovely neutral duo that instantly caught my eye on the display. I swatched it and I was like, I need to have this.

Swatches of Kalahari and Madison Ave:

Madison Avenue is a slate grey shade.

Comparison swatch of Nars Madison Avenue next to MAC Engraved and MAC Grey Utility.

The lady showed me the built-in sharpener that comes with the Larger Than Life pencil. Pretty nifty thing there.

birthday pressies!!

Ok so I have received presents from a few friends and colleagues.

First up, Illuminate Fantasy Collection from Beauté de Kosé Esprique Precious from my boss on Monday.

The set consists of a nail polish, glossy eye whatever (lots of glitter), face colour and brush, and lipgloss. The compact case is rather pretty and has a mirror inside.

Then this Sephora box today from my other colleagues.

Peek-a-boo...Oohh..out came a lovely scent...VS Berry Kiss hydrating body lotion

Ta-Daaa..and the rest of the treasure box revealed:

- Sephora blush in meringue jalouse

- MAC e/s in Ricepaper

- Sephora waterproof flashy liner in black

- Sephora waterproof khol and liner in keep blue

- MAC eye khol in Smolder

Lots of pencil liners huh? I like my pencils as much as my blushes, though now I'm somewhat gravitating towards eye shadows.

I should do a post on my collection of pencils soon yes?

hmm..also in the mail today 2 items that i bought online. Essence of Beauty crease duo brushes and MAC mineralize blush in Pleasantry.

And an email from CLEO informing me that I won a Veet hamper. I love winning prizes and this is almost like a birthday present too. This is the fifth hamper I've won from CLEO mag this year alone. Well worth my subscription. *grin*

stage haul

Guilty! Yes I'm another one who went to the stage $10 sale. I could have let it slip by, just like the Sephora sale (well I really didn't have the time and was too lazy and tired on Saturday to rush to Suntec City to see what was left - scared of being disappointed in case there was nothing much left that would interest me), but stage was on my way back home so to speak (meaning not out of the way like Suntec City), so I made my way to the outlet in ION straight after gym.

So what did I get?

- Eye liner in Pewter Performance (big box for a small pencil)

- Picture Perfect Liquid Camouflage in Diva Doll (I wanted the cream concealer first, but my shade "Buff" was OOS)

- Eye shadow mono in 11 Havana, 12 Andalucia, 13 Casablanca.

And then it so happened that on Sunday, I went to Suntec (that's ironic cos the Sephora sale was well over), and I went by the stage outlet there to see if they had the cream concealer and they did! So I grabbed it. Have yet to try using the products, except for one eyeshadow that i dabbed on on Sunday itself. I gotta admit, for someone who has a lot of makeup at home, I still suck at using it. Haha.
