NYX soft matte lip cream in Antwerp and San Paulo

I bought these nyx soft matte lip cream recently from cherryculture after seeing them featured on musicplayson's entry. They were kinda intriguing and I got curious.

"It's not lipstick nor is it gloss. It's like nothing you've experienced before. It's lipstick cream that goes on silky but looks soft matte."

I don't have any matte lip product in my stash and wanted to try this out. I went to google for more swatches (the sample swatch on cherryculture isn't accurate at all!) and eventually decided on two shades: Antwerp and San Paulo, out of the 11 shades available.

Doe-foot applicators.

Lip swatches:

Antwerp

San Paulo

I applied these on bare lips, with no prior lip balm application as I do with some lipsticks. I guess it would have defeated the purpose of looking matte in this case. If your lips are dry, this formula is not forgiving at all. It'll show up in the cracks and lines of your lips, and have blotches everywhere (kinda like in my swatch of Antwerp). Paler colours tend to do this to me. Otherwise, in summary:

  • Cream in a tube
  • Crazy pigmented
  • Great colour pay-off
  • Full coverage
  • Pleasant sweet smell
  • Nice soft texture
  • Not sticky
  • Affordable (UP USD6, on sale USD4.50)

San Paulo is real pretty.. Smiling Mattes are a nice change from all the usual types of lippies!
